在台灣,每年我們浪費了多少廚餘?

當吃不完的食物進了垃圾桶,被當作垃圾處理時,每年燒掉或掩埋的廚餘量為1500座101的高度。食物一起被焚燒的情形會導致許多問題,如:濕度高的廚餘導致焚化爐焚燒溫度不夠而產生污染氣體,並提升焚化爐維修費,而廢棄食物量卻足以使兩億人口飽足。

但是,我們發現大自然循環系統中他們有效的利用每個能量,善用廢棄物,以葉子來說,他掉落下來會被土壤的微生物分解,分解產生的養分又提供給樹木。那麼,食物也可以重新循環嗎?

When the food becomes garbage, we have to spend a lot of money to deal with it. Burning waste food with the trash can cause many problems, it loses the life of incinerator, causes air pollution, and if that food can feed 200 million poor. 

 

However, there is no litter in nature. Take the leaf, for example, it falls from the tree, was decomposed by soil, and the leaf will provide tree as nutrient again.

我們拜訪了台灣的廚餘堆肥專家,Pierre Loisel,他教我們正確的推肥程序,如何將廚餘重新變成營養的黑土肥料
 

了解廚餘的處理需要四個關鍵的要素,分別是 濕度、Air、溫度、C/N比例。而我們生活的地方-台灣,正是一個適合推肥的環境,嘗試多次的推肥實驗後,統整出更好的堆肥系統。

So, can food waste become a cycle?

 

We visited Pierre Loisel, who is the expert of compost in Taiwan. He taught us the right process and how to make waste food become fertilizer.

There is 4 important factor of the composting process, Humidity, air supply, temperature and Carbon-Nitrogen ratio. And Taiwan has great conditions for this process.

發現許多生物的身體機制概念可衍生運用,設計成一個新的、環境友善的產品,將廚餘轉化成肥料。
 

▶  仿自白蟻丘內部的空氣對流方式,讓空氣可以自然的進氣與排氣。

▶  下方扇孔,仿自松樹的毬果自動偵測濕度的特性,可自動開合。

▶  仿自蝴蝶羽毛上的鱗片也帶來了更快速的散熱結構與材質。

▶  仿自鯨魚的baleen構造來過濾掉液體,將廚餘與液肥分開,因亞洲
​ 的廚餘中大多為液體的特性。

We found out many kinds of creature can help us design a new, environment-friendly product which can transform waste food into fertilizer.

如何使用?

step1▶  廚餘倒入。
step2▶  加入調配好的堆肥促進材料。

step3▶  攪拌。廚餘發酵溫度會幫助設備從下方吸入空氣,並從上方排出。

step4▶  等待約三個月以後,就可以取出肥料。


我們希望能在家中創造這樣的堆肥環境,為了混和廚餘的堆肥促進材,我們結合了城市的清潔人員,讓枯枝樹葉可以被一般家庭所使用而不是載到垃圾場去,在環境、住家與社會之間形成循環。

How to use the system?

step1▶  Pour in the food scraps in. 


step2▶  Add the promoting composting material.

step3▶  Make a stir.

step4▶  Take out the fertilizer.

 

First, pour the food waste in it. Then add the promoting composting material, like leaf, litter, and sawdust, and make a stir. The fermentation of compost will Increase in temperature about 70 °C, it will help air exchange from the bottom to top. And wait for about 3 months, then you can take out the fertilizer from food.
